Part 2 – How to increase sales via email

Using Newsletters to Promote your Web Site

To increase your customer base, you have to build a list of people who
know you and trust you. That’s why so many businesses
offer free e-zines or electronic newsletters.

If you give out useful information, free of charge, it is a great way
to build relationships with the people on your email list. If they
receive your newsletter frequently and are benefiting from the information
you provide, then if a competing company approaches them, they are more
likely to stay with you than trust a company they have no connection with
and have never dealt with before.

Once you have a list of people who know and trust you, other business
owners will be interested to advertise in your newsletter. Some may even offer
to split their sales revenue with you if you endorse their products on their
list and this can be very profitable especially when your email is practically free.

However again, this can increase your workload as more email comes in
with queries about the newsletter, subscribing people to the newsletter and
confirmations, removing people from the mailing list etc and of course if you
don’t then you run the risk of irritating them and creating a bad impression
of your business. Something, which can cause you a huge amount of
damage as bad news travels even faster by email. Therefore you must manage
and control your email. Doing this with minimum effort is not as difficult as you
might think. Find out how in our next issue in April.

Part 3 will be available in our April issue of Netplosion News. If you have any email
issues you’d like to discuss with us, we would be happy to offer advice . You can

Profit from Selling Information Online

Introduction to Selling Information Online

As you may already be aware, in today’s society most purchases are
made on impulse. People make quick decisions to buy based on the
benefits and solutions offered by the particular product or service they’re
interested in. What is the greatest influencing factor on these snap
decisions to spend? The promise of a top quality product… quick service…
and instant gratification!

This is where information products have a tremendous advantage over
anything else that you might decide to market over the Internet. Because
they can be delivered electronically, problems such as delivery charges,
wrong addresses’ stocking and packaging delays, snail mail slow downs,
etc… are entirely eliminated!

If you deliver your product via the Post Office (AKA “Snail Mail”), and tell
these impulse buyers that they won’t receive your product for 6 to 8
weeks (or even 3 – 5 days), many of them will pass. They don’t want to wait.

Then, try telling those people who are “on the fence” about making a
purchase that postage and packing is going to cost them extra. Many
more will just walk away. Postage and packing raises the price of your
product.

How can you nearly guarantee that those remaining will never make
the purchase? Tell these people that they’ll have to wait even longer
for the product because you’re currently out of stock!

What if you could deliver your product via the web instantly and automatically.
You wouldn’t even have to perform the “admin work”, you can automatically
approve their credit card within minutes and have the money posted
straight to your bank account.

Electronic delivery of products has made catering to the demands of an
impulse buyer a snap.

Unfortunately, there is still one huge dilemma that anyone selling their
information over the internet must face…

Protecting your Information Online

Until now, there was no way to deliver your information over the Internet
without a serious risk of theft. You faced problems such as:

· Text documents can be posted to news groups and web sites…
· they can be copied and pasted to just about anywhere!
· HTML files can be uploaded to the Internet for everyone to see!
· Even if files are encrypted, they can be unencrypted.
· Even if files are “password protected,” they can be shared by simply
giving out the password!

And this is just scratching the surface! It doesn’t matter what method
of packaging we’re talking about – until now, there was always a
way for others to pirate and distribute your information product for free!

And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out these simple ways
of pirating your product and ruining what could have been an extremely
profitable online business venture!…………………..

Web Life

This month’s question comes from Alan in Co Donegal. We thought Alan’s question was relevant to the above article on newsletters. Alan asked us, ‘How do I go about starting my own newsletter?’

Our advice to Alan is as follows: ‘The first thing you should do is put yourself in your
web site visitors and customers’ shoes. Think about what information they are looking for when they visit your site and anticipate what further information they require. If you aren’t sure, then simply email them and ask. You’ll be amazed with what they tell you if you just ask. Never ever assume what people want. Go through past emails or even visit.

Look at some newsgroups relating to your site’s topic, and see what questions or problems, people are posting there. Once you have your initial research done and know what information you need to provide the second step is to look at what way, you will handle your emails. Putting more than one name in the To field is a big no no and will get you into hot water with your mailing list instantly. It’s an invasion of privacy if not anything else, plus it looks unprofessional.

Netplosion has 2 options for handling your newsletter subscription list,
one is that we will do it all for you including the information research and writing of your article, or the other is you buy email management software and manage it yourself. Netplosion recommends Mailloop, a very powerful tool built to manage all aspects of your email marketing, not just newsletters. For more info, visit: www.netplosion.com/mailloop.htm
