Images
supplied in digital format:
Supplying images in digital or electronic format
is the way we prefer for any web design work where
the images will be used. By digital we mean on disc,
uploaded to a web server or sent as an email attachment.
This allows us to transfer and edit, retouch and
electronically manipulate the images to achieve
the desired effects without having to scan them
first. As we don't have to convert the images to
the appropriate digital format this saves time and
therefore saves you money. To reflect this, there
is no charge for images supplied in this way. Where
possible we prefer the images in high resolution
(300 dpi), or larger than they will be on the page
as it allows us to produce a higher quality image
after optimising.
However if you don't have the image in high resolution,
then we can still produce a clear, well-optimised
image. The preferred format is jpeg however any
digital format will do.
Image
to be scanned from photos for Graphics Designing
Where the image can't be supplied in digital format
and can only be supplied as a photo, then we will
need to scan the image to convert it to the appropriate
format for the web. As this involves extra time
there will be a small charge for this. Other examples
of images that may need to be scanned include those
that are on leaflets, brochures and other printed
materials.
We are able to scan these, however, please note
that printed materials produce a lower quality of
output image than photographs, due to the halftone
effect of printing. So where possible please supply
a photo, but if this isn't possible then our skilled
and experienced designers can retouch and enhance
your images to the best possible quality.

one page view equals one impression.
Incubator
An organisation, which nurtures embryonic Internet
business ideas.
Integration
of Shopping Cart with Payment Processing
Whether it is a shopping cart developed by us, or
a third party application. We can seamlessly integrate
the shopping cart with the main payment processors.
This integration is essential if you want your customers
to be able to order online by credit card.
You may have a shopping cart, and you may already
have an online merchant account (if not we can arrange
this) or even a facility with a payment processor
- but until the two are integrated, you won't be
able to accept credit cards online. The integration
process varies, depending on the shopping cart application
used and while some off the shelf shopping carts
allow you to do this yourself - in
most cases it is better letting technical staff
deal with the integration to make sure everything
is working as it should. This is essential in a
bespoke ecommerce solution.
Internet
The Internet
is a global network of computers, itself made up of smaller computer networks,
variously connected to the world’s telecommunications infrastructure. Data
is exchanged using Internet protocols.
Internet
commerce
A subsector of electronic commerce, in which goods
and services are bought or sold using the World
Wide Web as a communications medium. Companies that
want to conduct Internet commerce, create web sites
that function as virtual stores through which customers
can access product information, place orders and
make payments. Some companies only use the web,
and some companies use the web combined with traditional
outlets.
Intranet
Many companies have built in-house networks using
the same software standards as the Internet. Companies
use intranets to distribute information and data
around their offices. Intranet activities usually
take place behind secure ‘firewalls’
to prevent unauthorised access.
IP
address
Every system connected to the Internet has a unique
Internet protocol address, which consists of a number
in the format A.B.C.D, where each of the four sections
is a decimal number from 0 to 255. Most people use
domain names instead, and the resolution between
domain names and IP addresses is handled by the
network and the domain name servers.
IP
Based Hosting
This gives you a unique IP address for your clients
webspace so the IP address can be used, in addition
to your domain name. It also means that if there
are any problems with your domain name - the site
will still be available.
ISDN
The integrated services digital network moves up to 128,000 bits per second over
a normal phone line at almost the same cost as a normal phone call. ISP
Internet service providers are companies that provide telephone network access
to the Internet to businesses and consumers. |
